Murray R. Nunns

President and Chief Executive Officer

Murray is a Professional Geologist with 30 years of growth oriented oil and natural gas experience, and brings to Penn West a long history of consistent success as an exploration and operational executive. His broad geotechnical exposure includes international oil and natural gas portfolio management with Unocal. From 1993 to 2002, Murray held a series of management positions at Rio Alto Exploration Ltd. including Senior Vice President of Exploration and Development and Chief Operating Officer. Since 2003, he has been involved in the formation and direction of several successful public and private oil and gas companies. Murray was a member of the Board of Directors of Penn West from 2005 until January 2008 when he joined Penn West in his current capacity.

Todd H. Takeyasu

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Todd is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years of oil and natural gas industry and public accounting experience. He has been with Penn West since 1994 in various positions including Financial Controller, Treasurer from 2001 to 2005 and has been the lead financial officer since that time.

David W. Middleton

Executive Vice President, Operations Engineering and Managing Director, Peace River Oil Partnership

Dave is a Professional Engineer with 33 years of oil and natural gas industry experience. Dave has been with Penn West since 1999 holding the Vice President and Senior Vice President, Production positions until 2005. He then held the position of Chief Operating Officer up to 2008 when he assumed the position of Executive Vice President, Engineering and Corporate Development. In June 2010, he undertook the role of managing the joint venture for the development of the assets in the Peace River Oil Sands of Alberta on behalf of Penn West Exploration and China Investment Corporation. In November 2012, his role expanded to include Penn West’s Operations Engineering department which supports the execution of drilling, completions and facility construction activities. Dave is also the current President of the Alberta Chamber of Resources.

Mark P. Fitzgerald

Senior Vice President, Development

Mark is a Professional Engineer who joined Penn West in 2008. Prior to his current role of Senior Vice President, Development, Mark was Senior Vice President of Production and Senior Vice President of Operations for Penn West. Prior to joining Penn West, he was Vice President of Operations at Canetic since January 2006. Other positions Mark has held include Vice President of Engineering at Acclaim, Director of Corporate Development and Manager of Operations at Dominion Energy and a variety of roles of increasing responsibility with Chevron Canada and Chevron U.S.A.

Gregg Gegunde

Senior Vice President, Production

Gregg is a Professional Engineer and an engineering graduate of the University of Calgary with more than 20 years of oil and natural gas industry experience and project management.  He joined Penn West in 1998 and was Manager, Southern Plains Production from 2002 to 2005, Vice President, Development 2005 to 2009, Vice President, Production Engineering until 2011 when he was moved to his current position responsible for field production operations and production engineering.

S. Keith Luft

General Counsel and Senior Vice President, Stakeholder Relations

Keith obtained both his Bachelor of Arts (History) and Law Degrees at the University of Alberta. In early 2004, after 13 years of private practice in Calgary, Keith joined Burlington Resources and thereafter ConocoPhillips Canada as a Senior Solicitor, working closely with the Land, Surface and Regulatory Departments of both companies. He joined Penn West in October of 2006 as Vice President responsible for land and legal matters. In 2008 he was promoted to his current position, and currently has responsibility over the Legal, Human Resources & Corporate Resources, Insurance & Risk Management, Health Safety Environment & Regulatory, and Stakeholder Relations Departments.

Bob Shepherd

Senior Vice President, Enhanced Oil Recovery and Cordova Joint Venture

Bob is a Professional Engineer who joined Penn West in January 2009 as Vice President of Exploitation. He was appointed Senior Vice President of Exploration & Development in October 2009 and assumed his current role in July 2011. His more than 30 years of industry experience include conventional oil and gas development in Western Canada and Alaska, thermal oil sands development and business leadership; including three years as President of Marathon Canada Limited. Bob is a graduate of SAIT Polytechnic and Montana Tech and a former Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

Rob Wollmann

Senior Vice President, Exploration

A geological engineering graduate of Queen's University, Rob has held various roles in Penn West's Exploration and Development group since joining the organization in September 2009.  With over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry Rob has helped form, direct and/or contribute to the successful growth of Rio Alto Exploration, Unocal Corporation and several junior oil and gas companies.
