David E. Roberts

President and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Roberts brings more than 30 years of operational experience in the upstream oil and gas business most recently as former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Marathon Oil Corporation. His knowledge and successes on such a very large scale make him a welcome addition to the senior management team at Penn West.

Mr. Roberts also served as Marathon's Executive Vice President Upstream for a number of years after joining Marathon in 2006 as Senior Vice President Business Development. He previously served as Executive Vice President/Managing Director for BG Group plc. with responsibility for Asia and the Middle East. Prior to joining BG Group, he served as advisor to the Vice Chairman of ChevronTexaco Corporation from 2001 to 2003, where he provided strategic and operational advice to executive management regarding the company's upstream operations. Dave built his early skills with Texaco, where he held a number of key operational and strategic planning roles over an 18 year period.

David A. Dyck

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

David Dyck has 30 years of experience in senior financial and leadership roles within the Canadian energy industry and brings to Penn West a proven value creation track record.

Prior to joining Penn West in May 2014, David was the CFO of a private energy company, which focused on developing natural gas conversion projects combined with in-situ coal gasification. From 2009 to 2012, David served as President and COO of an international public company, where he reorganize and refocus exploration efforts worldwide. David founded and ran a capital advisory firm from 2007 to 2009 which completed over $1 billion in financing and restructuring transactions. From 2000 to 2007, David was SVP, Finance and CFO of a Calgary-based oil sands company. While there, David was instrumental in growing the company from inception to a company with a market capitalization in excess of $6 billion with 70 employees. In 2007, the company was eventually sold through a $7.1 billion plan of arrangement.

Gregg Gegunde

Senior Vice President Exploitation, Production & Delivery

Gregg is a Professional Engineer and an engineering graduate of the University of Calgary with more than 20 years of oil and natural gas industry experience and project management.  He joined Penn West in 1998 and was Manager, Southern Plains Production from 2002 to 2005, Vice President, Development 2005 to 2009, Vice President, Production Engineering until 2011 when he was moved to his current position responsible for field production operations and production engineering.
