William E. Andrew

Chief Executive Officer

Bill is a Professional Engineer with 35 years of oil and natural gas industry experience, including 17 years with Penn West Energy. Bill joined Penn West in 1992 as founding member of the team that led the company from a very small cap producer to one of Canada’s largest senior oil and natural gas exploration and production companies and then to North America’s largest energy income trust. He served as the President of Penn West and its predecessors from 1995 to February 2008. Bill has an engineering diploma from the University of Prince Edward Island and a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) degree from Nova Scotia Technical College. Bill is Chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island and has served as a Trustee of the Grace Hospital, Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, Premiers Council on Carbon Capture and Sequestration and is a former Director of the Canadian Wind Institute.

Murray R. Nunns

President & Chief Operating Officer

Murray is a Professional Geologist with 30 years of growth oriented oil and natural gas experience, and brings to Penn West a long history of consistent success as an exploration and operational executive. His broad geotechnical exposure includes international oil and natural gas portfolio management with Unocal. From 1993 to 2002, Murray held a series of management positions at Rio Alto Exploration Ltd. including Senior Vice President of Exploration and Development and Chief Operating Officer. Since 2003, he has been involved in the formation and direction of several successful public and private oil and gas companies. Murray was a member of the Board of Directors of Penn West from 2005 until January 2008 when he joined Penn West in his current capacity.

Todd Takeyasu

Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

Todd is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years of oil and natural gas industry and public accounting experience. He has been with Penn West since 1994 in various positions including Financial Controller, Treasurer from 2001 to 2005 and has been the lead financial officer since that time.

David W. Middleton

Executive Vice President, Engineering & Corporate Development

Dave is a Professional Engineer with more than 29 years of oil and natural gas industry experience since graduating from the University of Toronto with a degree in Engineering. He has been with Penn West since 1999 holding the Vice President, then Senior Vice President, Production positions between 2001 and 2005. In 2005, Dave assumed overall day-to-day responsibility for Penn West’s operations as its Chief Operating Officer until 2008 when he assumed his current position where he will provide strategic focus across Penn West’s assets including the advancement of its initiatives to increase the recovery of light oil using CO2 miscible flooding, from its preeminent inventory of legacy light oil pools.

Thane A.E. Jensen

Senior Vice President, Operations Engineering

Thane is a Professional Engineer and an engineering graduate of the University of Oklahoma with more than 20 years of oil and natural gas industry experience. He joined Penn West in 1998 and was Manager, Exploitation from 2001 to 2004, Vice President, Engineering 2004 to 2005, Senior Vice President, Exploration and Development until 2008 when he was moved to his current position responsible for drilling, completions, surface land and facility operations as well as Penn West’s multi-disciplinary exploitation teams.

Mark Fitzgerald

Senior Vice President, Production

Mark is a Professional Engineer who joined Penn West in 2008. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Operations at Canetic since January 2006. Other positions Mark has held include Vice President of Engineering at Acclaim, Director of Corporate Development and Manager of Operations at Dominion Energy and a variety of roles in increasing responsibility with Chevron Canada and Chevron U.S.A.

Hilary Foulkes

Senior Vice President, Business Development

Hilary has over 25 years of oil and gas industry experience. A Professional Geologist, much of her operations experience was obtained through exploration and development roles with Gulf Canada Resources. For eight years prior to joining Penn West, she was a Managing Director with the investment banking firm, Scotia Waterous.   In her role at Penn West, Hilary oversees acquisitions and divestments, corporate planning and reserves reporting.

 


Keith Luft

General Counsel & Senior Vice President, Stakeholder Relations

Keith obtained both his Bachelor of Arts (History) and Law Degrees at the University of Alberta. In early 2004, after 13 years of private practice in Calgary, Keith joined Burlington Resources and thereafter ConocoPhillips Canada as a Senior Solicitor, working closely with the Land, Surface and Regulatory Departments of both companies. He joined Penn West in October of 2006 as Vice President responsible for land and legal matters. In 2008 he was promoted to his current position, responsible for the Legal, Regulatory, Human Resources, Corporate Resources, Insurance and Risk Management and our Public Affairs Departments.

Bob Shepherd

Senior Vice President, Exploration & Development

Bob is a Professional Engineer who joined Penn West in January 2009 as Vice President of Exploitation and assumed his current role in September 2009. His 29 years of industry experience include conventional oil and gas development in Western Canada and Alaska, thermal oil sands development and business leadership; including three years as President of Marathon Canada Limited. Bob is a graduate of SAIT Polytechnic and Montana Tech and a former Governor of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.
