Aboriginal Affairs and Stakeholders
At Penn West, we recognize that successfully developing oil and gas resources in our area of operations involves listening, understanding and then responding to the interests and concerns expressed by our stakeholders. We strive to achieve a clear line of open, honest and consistent communication with the communities in which we operate. We recognize that decisions based on communication and collaboration often result in new and beneficial ways to achieve project development.
Consultation with our Aboriginal stakeholders is an ongoing and continuous process and takes many forms across our operations in Western Canada. Penn West views its regulatory and legal requirements seriously and by exceeding minimum standards, seeks to build and continue long term relationships.
Penn West has an Aboriginal Affairs Team established to consult with and engage aboriginal communities regarding our projects. Penn West supports opportunities to promote education and training, cultural awareness and its preservation, and long term sustainability. We seek to have community members participate in Penn West operations including the construction and operation of our projects.
At Penn West we recognize that trust and mutual respect are the primary building blocks for any meaningful communication and long term relationships.
